Surinder Arora (Arora International)
Surinder Arora started his career as an office junior at British Airways
while moonlighting as a hotel waiter. He invested all of his family's
savings in property, eventually developing a row of houses opposite
Heathrow airport into a large-scale bed-and-breakfast operation. From
that, in 1999, emerged his first hotel specifically for air crews. By 2004,
when Arora International won the contract for a 600-bedroom hotel
at Heathrow's new Terminal 5 development, he had built a hotel and
property empire worth £227 million.
