Martha Lane Fox (Founder lastminute,com, Lucky Voice, Digital champion)

After graduating from Magdalen College, Oxford, Martha Lane Fox joined Spectrum management consultants, where she met her future business partner Brent Hoberman.

Together in 1999 they set up lastminute.com, growing it into one of the UK's best-known internet businesses that floated at the height of the dotcom bubble and is still Europe's larget travel and leisure website. Martha stayed on as MD until 2003. In 2004, Martha was severely injured as a result of a car accident in Morocco - this resulted in over a year of hospitalisation and ongoing effects today.  Since her recovery Martha has embarked on a number of entrepreneurial ventures, including founding  luckyvoice.com - a karaoke bar chain and online enterprise.  She has also become non-executive director of Marks & Spencer and Channel 4. In June 2009,Martha was appointed the UK government's digital champion and has gone on to lead the high profile Race online 2012 campaign - aiming to bring the benefits of the web to the nine million UK adults that have never been online.
