Galen Weston

Galen Weston (Weston)

Born into the already hugely wealthy and successful Weston clan, Galen Weston's first real test of his business acumen came when he moved to Canada in 1973 and was given full rein over the family's rambling business interests there. He transformed George Weston Limited into a retail empire which is number one in Canada, selling a third of the country's groceries. Along the way he had to dump $300 million of unproductive assets and make a number of acquisitions. Galen's business interests have spread to the United Kingdom, most notably with the purchase of Selfridges in 2003.
