Alex Brummer read economics and politics at the University of
Southampton and went on to do an MBA at the University of Bradford Management Centre. He began his career at J Walter Thomson and Haymarket Publishing, before beginning a twenty-six-year stint at the Guardian, starting as financial correspondent, moving on to become Washington correspondent, foreign editor and then financial editor. Alex Brummer became City editor of the Daily Mail in May 2000. He has recently written a book on the current credit crisis, The Crunch.
